Douglas Carl Jones, a 35-year-old plumber from Simpsonville, South Carolina, was last seen on July 30, 1997. That day, Jones had been completing jobs as part of his work as an independent contractor and was preparing to take a family vacation to Disney World with his wife and their older child. His infant child was set to stay behind with his parents. After being seen purchasing plumbing supplies and going about his day normally, Jones never returned home.
