Eduardo Gaspar Masoller, a 52-year-old construction contractor from Springfield, Virginia, went missing on January 31, 2005, in Ocean City, Maryland. He had traveled there with two co-workers to work on a roofing and siding project. The last confirmed sighting of Eduardo was when he had dinner with one of his employees, Jose Damian Hernandez, at a local restaurant.
Masoller was reported missing on February 3, 2005, after family members could not contact him. When authorities searched his condominium, they discovered evidence of a violent struggle, including large amounts of blood, primarily in the master bedroom, along with bloodstains in the kitchen and dining room. Several items, including bedding and a large futon mattress, were missing, and police found a large knife on the floor. The evidence indicated that Masoller could not have survived his injuries.
Hernandez and another co-worker, Jose Roberto Orellana Romero, were the primary suspects in the case. Hernandez was later found in possession of Masoller’s credit card and vehicle, which had been parked at Hernandez’s apartment in Ohio. He was convicted of theft-related charges but was released and deported to El Salvador. Romero, who is also believed to be involved, remains a fugitive and may have fled to El Salvador.
Despite the issuance of a death certificate in June 2005, Masoller's body has never been found. Authorities believe his body may have been disposed of within a 30-mile radius of Ocean City. The case remains unsolved, and Ocean City Police continue to investigate, urging anyone with information to come forward.
