Jesse Pinegar, a 22-year-old from Orem, Utah, went missing on March 24, 2008, while hiking the Kalalau Trail in Hawaii’s Waiahuakua Valley. Pinegar had traveled to Hawaii in January 2008 for an extended vacation, staying in an apartment on Kauai and regularly staying in touch with his family. During his last communication, Pinegar told his family he planned to take one final hike before returning home for a family event.
