Ann did not return home that day, and her dark blue-gray 1991 Plymouth Voyager minivan, license plate 3-A8045, has also never been found. Later that evening, her husband, William Kelley, reported her missing. He claimed to have found her cell phone and a note addressed to their children at 12:30 a.m. on April 16, though the contents of the note have not been made public.
While investigators initially focused on her disappearance as a missing person's case, it later shifted to a suspected homicide investigation.
