Jerica Ann Hamre, a 30-year-old mother, was last seen at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska, on June 25, 2024. Just days prior, on June 22, she had been the victim of a physical assault, allegedly by her roommates, which left her with a broken nose and severe bruising. In a conversation with a friend, Jerica expressed that she was unhappy with her living situation. Although she reported the assault to the Lincoln Police Department, she declined to press charges at that time.
This incident preceded a sudden and complete cessation of her typically active social media presence and all other forms of communication, which immediately raised concern among those who knew her.
The alarm for Jerica's safety grew when she failed to show up for a scheduled visitation with her children on June 29. This uncharacteristic silence and her absence prompted her family to report her missing on July 3, 2024. In the months that followed her disappearance, extensive search efforts were undertaken by law enforcement, family, friends, and community volunteers. The investigation indicated that Jerica may have traveled west from Lincoln towards the Oxford area. These searches included the investigation of a property in Overton, Nebraska, though initial efforts did not yield evidence. Her family described her as a fun-loving person who enjoyed spending time with her daughters, but also acknowledged her struggles and association with the wrong people.
Sadly, on December 17, 2025, Jerica Hamre's remains were discovered in a remote outbuilding on a rural farm just north of Oxford, in Furnas County. The discovery was made by a representative of the farm's owner who was inspecting the property in preparation for its sale. Investigators believe Jerica had no connection to the property where she was found and that her body had been there for a significant amount of time. Her death is being investigated as a homicide by the Lincoln Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol. Authorities have stated that they have a person of interest in custody on unrelated charges and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
