She had been on a summer trip to Oregon earlier that year and decided to extend her stay, eventually moving to Humboldt County. Christine became involved in alternative spiritual practices and was connected to a group called Green Life Evolutions, which has since disbanded.
Just days before her disappearance, Christine participated in a tea ceremony involving the hallucinogenic substance ayahuasca. On November 12, she was found naked, disoriented, and covered in scratches on a porch outside Arcata, California. Christine was taken to a hospital, but upon release, she appeared paranoid and afraid. On November 14, she visited a copy center in Eureka to retrieve documents faxed by her mother, which she needed to obtain new identification. She was last seen at the copy center but vanished soon after.
Her belongings, including her backpack and money, were later found at a spiritual center in Arcata. Despite thorough searches and investigations, Christine's case remains unsolved.
