Karen Marie Mitchell, a 16-year-old from Eureka, California, was last seen on November 25, 1997. She had left the Bayshore Mall where her aunt owned a shoe store and was walking towards her job at the Humboldt Child Care Council, located about 0.75 miles away. Karen never made it to her destination and has not been heard from since.
