Charlene Annette Rosser, a 28-year-old woman from Eureka, California, was last seen on April 12, 1998. Her disappearance was shrouded in mystery for years. In 2003, skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area off State Route 89 in Sierra County, near Calpine, California. It wasn't until 2012, through DNA analysis, that these remains were identified as belonging to Charlene Rosser.
At the time of her disappearance, Charlene had been visiting friends in Sacramento before vanishing without a trace. Her remains were found by U.S. Forest Service personnel, but the circumstances surrounding her death remain unknown. Due to the condition of the site and the remains, it has been challenging for investigators to determine the exact cause of death, but her case is being treated as a homicide.
