Shirley Klemgard, age 49, was last seen on September 16, 1989, while on a fishing trip with her brother, Edward LaBrie, in Lake Ontario near Alexandria Bay, New York. The pair had taken their 16-foot 1962 Lone Star fiberglass boat, which had a history of engine trouble, and were last observed heading toward Henderson Harbor from Galoo Island around 6:00 p.m. Their car and boat trailer were later found at a state boat launch in Henderson Harbor.
