Jennifer Marie Wilmer, aged 21, was last seen on September 13, 1993, in the Hawkins Bar area of Northern California. Originally from New York, Jennifer moved to California in 1992, hoping to attend the College of the Redwoods. After finding the classes full, she worked various jobs while living with roommates in a rented house. On the day of her disappearance, Jennifer planned to hitchhike to Willow Creek, a nearby town, to inquire about a job at a local farm.
She left behind a note for her housemates indicating she would return, leaving all of her personal belongings behind.
Jennifer was described as a free spirit, leading a counterculture lifestyle and frequenting the "Deadhead" community. At the time of her disappearance, she was dealing with depression. Despite extensive searches, she never arrived at her destination, and no trace of her has been found since. The case remains unsolved, with foul play suspected.
Jennifer’s disappearance is one of several mysterious vanishings in the region, collectively referred to as the "Humboldt Five." Her mother, Susan Wilmer, became a strong advocate for missing persons and helped pass "Jennifer’s Law" in 2000, aimed at improving the reporting of missing and unidentified individuals across the United States.Last Seen: Sep 13, 1993
