Robert Richard Remmer, age 38, was last seen on January 1, 1994, in Tarpon Springs, Florida. He and his companion, Eugeniusz Pastula, departed from Erickson Marina on the 42-foot fishing vessel *Miss Black Diamond*. The two men had prepared for a 10- to 12-day fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico, but they never returned.
On January 7, 1994, the *Miss Black Diamond* was discovered adrift approximately 70 miles west of Clearwater, Florida.
The vessel was heavily damaged, with its cabin and pilothouse missing, and there was no trace of Remmer or Pastula. Despite extensive search efforts by the U.S. Coast Guard, which covered over 1,300 square miles using aircraft and helicopters, neither man was found. It is believed that the boat may have been hit by a large wave during a storm, leading to the disappearance of both men at sea.
The case remains open, and authorities have classified Remmer and Pastula as lost at sea. Despite the passage of time, no further evidence has emerged, leaving the mystery of their fate unresolved.
