Michelle Carroll Missing Person Case

In the early morning hours of January 5, 2024, 70-year-old Michelle Carroll was last seen at her residence, the Homestead Residential Health Care Facility on Weymouth Road in Mullica Township, New Jersey. The last known sighting of her was at approximately 5:30 a.m. when she was taking out the trash. From that point on, there has been no sign of her. At the time of her disappearance, it is believed she was wearing either a tan or black jacket and was likely carrying a large black purse.

Michelle is described as a person who frequented certain local stores, including the Dollar General on the South White Horse Pike in Elwood and the Walmart, also on the South White Horse Pike, in Hammonton. Concern for her well-being was heightened by the fact that she is diabetic and has a neurologic impairment, and it is believed she did not have her necessary medication with her when she went missing. Her sister, Susan McLeer, noted that she had been with Michelle just the Saturday before she disappeared and that she had seemed to be doing well.

The Mullica Township Police Department was notified of her disappearance and has been investigating the case. One avenue of investigation involved New Jersey Transit, as Michelle had been known to use their buses for transportation in the past. However, when her photograph was shown to bus drivers, none of them recalled seeing her. The investigation into her whereabouts continues, and a community of concerned family and friends hold out hope for her safe return. The case represents the ongoing and unresolved disappearance of a vulnerable member of the community, a woman who vanished after a simple, routine task.
