David Scott Keller, 39, was last seen on April 9, 2005, when he embarked on a fishing trip from Freeport, Texas, with two companions, Austin Childs and John Zimmerman. The trio left in Zimmerman's 28-foot pleasure boat, accompanied by a yellow Labrador Retriever, several ice chests, life jackets, and other fishing equipment. They planned to return the following day, but they never did.
The boat was later discovered capsized in the Gulf of Mexico.
It is believed the vessel may have struck an object, potentially causing a crack in the hull. Nearby, search teams found a seat cushion and several life jackets floating, but there was no sign of the three men. Despite extensive search efforts, no trace of Keller or his companions has ever been found, and all three are presumed lost at sea.
