Bodvar Gregersen, age 51, was last seen on February 1, 1972, in Freeport, Texas. Gregersen was aboard the SS V.A. Fogg, a chemical tanker, which departed from Freeport into the Gulf of Mexico carrying a hazardous cargo of xylene. Shortly after leaving port, an explosion tore through the vessel, splitting it apart. The ship quickly sank about 33 miles southeast of Freeport. All 39 crew members, including Gregersen, were presumed dead, although some of the bodies were later recovered.
