In the early morning hours of January 14, 2024, Marissa Kay Carmichael, a 25-year-old mother of five from North Carolina, found herself in a distressing situation. After a night out with a friend, she was left stranded at an Exxon gas station in Greensboro. A man she was with had driven off with her cell phone while she was inside the station. At approximately 3:46 a.m., she placed a call to 911, her voice filled with distress as she explained her predicament and asked for help getting home.
She was last seen wearing a white 'Tweety Bird' t-shirt, blue jeans, and yellow sneakers.
The events leading up to her disappearance began the previous evening, January 13, 2024, when she left her home for a night out. She and a friend went to a lounge and later to a party at an Airbnb. At some point, she left the party with a male acquaintance who then took her to the Exxon station. After he left her there, she was seen on surveillance footage getting into another vehicle with a different man, who police have since identified and interviewed as a witness. By the time police arrived at the gas station at 4:21 a.m. in response to her 911 call, she was already gone.
Since that morning, there has been no contact from Marissa. Her social media accounts have been inactive, which is unusual for her, and her phone goes straight to voicemail. Her family, including her five young children, are deeply concerned and have been tirelessly searching for answers.
