Giang Thai Than Phan, a 33-year-old man from Dallas, Texas, vanished while on a business trip in Louisiana. On April 8, 2011, he was last seen in Hammond, Louisiana. He had lunch with an old friend at a local Mexican restaurant, La Carreta, from approximately noon until 1:30 p.m. After lunch, Giang reportedly planned to drive to New Orleans for some business before heading to Golden Meadow to meet a business partner. He was expected to arrive in Golden Meadow between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., but he never made it to his destination. This unexpected failure to arrive marked the beginning of a long and painful mystery for his friends and family. A missing persons report was officially filed in Lafourche Parish the following day. The last known communication from Giang Phan occurred around 4:00 p.m. on the day he disappeared. His concerned business partner sent him a text message asking about his whereabouts. Giang replied, stating that he was running late and would meet his partner after concluding his business in New Orleans. That was the final message anyone would receive from him. Along with Giang, the vehicle he was driving, a 2009 silver or gold Chevrolet Malibu with Texas license plate number CB5G609, also disappeared. Several of his personal belongings, including his wallet, iPhone, and a laptop computer, were with him and have not been seen since. At the time of his disappearance, Giang was wearing a blue polo shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes, along with a silver chain with a silver cross. Giang Phan was in Louisiana for work, involved in a business that sold herbal supplements to fitness centers. The nature of the "business" he mentioned in New Orleans remains unclear to both his friend and his business partner. The Golden Meadow Police Department is investigating his disappearance, but despite the passage of time, the case has yielded no significant answers. No trace of Giang or his Chevrolet Malibu has ever been recovered. The case remains an active and unsolved missing person investigation, leaving his loved ones waiting for any information that might explain what happened to him after he finished lunch on that spring afternoon.
