On April 27, 2011, Christopher Lee Cessna, a 45-year-old man from Cary, North Carolina, vanished in the vast expanse of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. His family reported him missing after being unable to contact him. The circumstances leading to the search began when park rangers investigated a 2009 Audi that had been left for an extended period in the Newfound Gap parking area.
