In the early autumn of 2012, a family's life was irrevocably changed. On September 5th, 29-year-old Leon Allan Addison left his home in Durham, North Carolina, for a walk. It was a Wednesday, and seemingly an ordinary day, but Leon departed without his cell phone or his wallet, two items most people don't leave behind. He was last seen near Glen Falls Lane in the southern part of the city.
Leon, a Black male, stood between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, and weighed around 170 to 175 pounds. On the day he vanished, he was wearing a black polo shirt, blue jeans, a black baseball cap, and black and white Nike Air Force One sneakers with distinctive red shoelaces.
Concern for Leon's well-being grew as hours turned into days. The Durham Police Department was notified, and an investigation into his disappearance began. Leon was a man with distinct features that his family hoped would make him easily recognizable. He had close-cut black hair and a neatly trimmed beard and mustache. His dark eyes were a notable feature, but it was his tattoos that were perhaps his most distinguishing marks. On his neck, he had the word 'Blessed' and a Scorpio symbol tattooed. His hands also bore ink; one hand had a tattoo that read 'Leon Jr' and the other, 'Cemone.' These personal and unique details were shared with the public in the hope that someone might come forward with information.
The days following Leon's disappearance were filled with uncertainty and a painful lack of answers. Law enforcement and his loved ones searched, holding onto hope for his safe return. The Durham Police Department encouraged anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it seemed, to contact their investigators. The case was entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System under case number MP17487, a national repository for missing person cases. Despite these efforts and the public appeals for help, the trail seemed to go cold. The initial investigation did not yield any immediate leads, leaving a void in the lives of those who knew and loved Leon. The circumstances surrounding his decision to leave without his personal belongings remain a central and perplexing question in his case. To this day, the search for answers continues, and the question of what happened to Leon Allan Addison on that September day remains unanswered.Last Seen: Sep 5, 2012
