In the summer of 2014, a one-year-old boy named Andre Amon Thompson Jr. was reported missing from Durham, North Carolina. He was believed to be in the company of his mother, Dreama Ferguson, or his father, Andre Thompson Sr., neither of whom had legal custody of him. This was not the first time young Andre had been reported missing; earlier that same year, in April, he had vanished for about a day before being found by Durham police.
