Daniel "Danny" Goldman, a 17-year-old from Surfside, Florida, was abducted from his home at gunpoint in the early hours of March 28, 1966, the day before his 18th birthday. The intruder, who entered through an unlocked sliding glass door, demanded $10,000 from Danny’s parents, Aaron and Sally Goldman. When they couldn’t provide the money, the kidnapper took Danny and increased the ransom demand to $25,000, threatening to kill him if the money wasn’t delivered.
Despite these demands, the kidnapper never contacted the family again, and Danny was never seen or heard from after that morning.
Danny’s car, a white Nash Rambler, was found abandoned shortly after his abduction, but no further clues emerged. The case, once a national headline, remained unsolved for decades. Over the years, it became suspected that organized crime figures were involved, particularly individuals connected to the Trafficante crime family. Some believe that the case was further complicated by corruption within local law enforcement, as several officers assigned to the investigation were later implicated in unrelated criminal activities.
Despite the passage of time, Danny’s case was reopened in 2012 after a volunteer team of former neighbors and investigators uncovered new leads, including a fingerprint match linking the crime to a known associate of the Trafficante organization.
