Charles Howard Bolter, a 69-year-old retired cattle rancher from Waterford, California, disappeared on December 23, 1972. His disappearance came just nine days after he was robbed of $30,000 by three men. The thieves forced Bolter to drive them to multiple banks, where he withdrew and handed over the money.
