Yim Eng, a 43-year-old woman from Hurley, New York, was kidnapped on October 2, 1983, from her home. That afternoon, gunmen forcibly entered her residence, subdued her with chloroform, and took her away. The kidnappers later contacted an employee of her husband, demanding a ransom of $300,000 for her release. Her husband managed to deliver only $180,000, but Yim was never returned.
