Arlene Day Abbas, a 36-year-old woman, disappeared on January 6, 1989, after leaving a halfway house in Brooklyn, New York. Arlene had been battling schizophrenia and was recently released from a New York City hospital to the halfway house. Originally from Indiana, she moved to New Orleans as an adult, where she converted to Islam and had three children with her husband.
