David Wayne Schroeder, a 45-year-old from Brice Prairie, Wisconsin, was last seen on September 22, 2012. That day, his wife took him home early from church because he wasn't feeling well. She dropped him off at around 2:10 p.m., and he said he would rest. However, when his eldest son arrived home about 15 minutes later, David was gone. He had apparently left on foot, leaving behind his wallet, phone, ID, and crucial medication for his insulin-dependent diabetes.
Despite being a dedicated father to his three sons and active in his church, David disappeared without a trace. His family noted that he had been acting unusually in the days leading up to his disappearance, but there were no apparent marital problems. Tragically, despite scent-tracking dogs following his trail for a mile along nearby railroad tracks, no further clues were found, and he has not been heard from since.
David's family had him declared legally dead 18 months after his disappearance, though his case remains unsolved. His youngest son, who was severely disabled, passed away in 2015.
