Gene Jacob Cloud Jr., a 20-year-old Native American man, went missing on January 25, 2012, near Black River Falls, Wisconsin. On that evening, after leaving his girlfriend's residence, Gene's vehicle got stuck in a ditch along Highway O in Jackson County. A sheriff’s deputy arrived to assist but, upon asking Gene for identification, he fled into the nearby woods, taking his six-month-old Dachshund with him.
