In the early autumn of 2012, a young man named Phillip Johnson, just 27 years old, vanished from Las Vegas, Nevada, alongside his girlfriend, Abby Roberts. The couple, who both worked for the postal service, shared a home and had recently welcomed a two-month-old son. They were last seen together on September 25, 2012. Concerns for their welfare grew when Abby failed to show up for work for a week, prompting her family to request a welfare check at their residence. Upon arrival, the home was found vacant, with no sign of Phillip, Abby, or their infant child. The circumstances surrounding their disappearance were immediately unsettling, launching a mystery that would leave their families searching for answers for years to come. A few days after the couple was last seen, Phillip Johnson reappeared, but under troubling circumstances. On the evening of October 3, 2012, he arrived at his mother's home in Torrance, California. He was driving the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze he shared with Abby and had with him their two-month-old son, as well as his son from a previous relationship. Conspicuously, Abby was not with him, and he offered no explanation for her absence before leaving the children with his mother and departing. This would be the last confirmed sighting of Phillip Johnson. Sometime later, the Chevrolet Cruze was discovered abandoned in Compton, California. The vehicle, which was a key piece of their life together, now stood as a silent testament to their unexplained disappearance. The investigation into the couple's disappearance uncovered suspicious details at their Las Vegas home. A metal trash can that Phillip had recently purchased and kept in the garage was missing. Evidence of a fire in that same trash can was apparent, leaving a scorch mark on the garage floor and soot stains on the ceiling. While authorities have not named Phillip as a suspect, Abby's family believes he may have been involved in her disappearance, stating she had been planning to leave him due to his infidelity. Despite these troubling signs, the case grew cold, with no definitive evidence explaining what happened to either Phillip Johnson or Abby Roberts. The case is a complex and somber tale of two individuals who vanished, leaving behind their children and a void of unanswered questions for their loved ones.
