Marjorie Elizebeth Zeilenga, aged 64, was last seen on September 20, 1998, during a sailing trip with her husband in the Pacific Ocean. The couple had departed from San Francisco Bay on their 30-foot sailboat, *City Scape*, headed for Santa Cruz to visit their daughter. That night, they encountered rough conditions, including high winds and large swells, while north of the Ano Nuevo State Reserve.
At approximately 4:00 a.m., the boom on the mainsail broke, prompting them to turn back toward Half Moon Bay for repairs. While Marjorie was at the helm and her husband was securing equipment, a large wave hit the boat, and she was thrown overboard. Although she was wearing a life vest, Marjorie did not have a safety line or harness attached. Her husband saw her in the water briefly, but she soon disappeared from view.
Despite efforts to locate her, including her husband's attempts to search the area and an extensive search by the Coast Guard, Marjorie's body was never recovered.
