Kamelia Maria Spencer, a 2-year-old girl from Palmdale, California, was last seen on December 20, 1999. She was abducted during a supervised visit with her non-custodial father, Derek Spencer, and her paternal grandmother, Helen Gruning. The visit, which was supposed to take place at the California Department of Social Services, was relocated to the Funland amusement center by Derek's request. During the visit, Kamelia was taken by her father and grandmother, and they disappeared soon after.
Authorities issued warrants for Derek Spencer and Helen Gruning in 2000, suspecting they might have fled the state or even the country. There were also concerns they could be armed and dangerous, so extreme caution was advised. Investigators believed they might have traveled to Las Vegas or left the country entirely.
Kamelia’s case has remained unresolved for many years, and authorities continue to seek information regarding her whereabouts. Despite extensive efforts, no significant leads have surfaced. As of now, Kamelia’s case is classified as a family abduction.
