Joliet Elizabeth Cedano, just five months old, was abducted on September 11, 2006, while at William J. McAdam Park in Palmdale, California, with her foster mother. A man, later identified as Jose Martinez, forcibly took Joliet and fled in a maroon 1989 Buick Regal. Martinez was apprehended later that day but revealed that he had given Joliet to her biological mother, Maria Ayala. Ayala had lost custody of Joliet at birth due to the child being born with drug dependency.
