Holverson left his tent sometime between 9:30 PM and midnight and never returned. At the time, there were snowy and sleeting conditions in the area. His vehicle, a Chevrolet pickup truck, was left at a friend's house and never retrieved.

Christopher’s description walking along Forest Road 218 that night, though this sighting could not be confirmed. Despite an extensive search and investigation, no solid leads have emerged, and he has not been found. Holverson’s parents were going through a divorce at the time, and while some believed he may have run away, his father found this unlikely given that Christopher left behind his vehicle and personal belongings.
