While Frank claimed he was in Fresno, a phone call was traced from his cell phone to Reedley, California, about 30 miles away. Investigations revealed that Sandra's diary contained entries indicating she was aware of her husband's extramarital affair. In 2006, Frank had Sandra declared legally dead, citing the need to obtain the title to their home, despite resistance from Sandra’s mother.
