Stephen Daryl McKee, a 62-year-old man from Vero Beach, Florida, went missing on August 27, 2013. He was last seen withdrawing $22 from an ATM at a local bar in Fort Pierce that afternoon. Later that evening, McKee was asked to leave the bar after passing out at around 9:00 p.m. Bar staff escorted him outside, and that was the last time anyone saw him. McKee had a history of alcohol addiction dating back to the 1970s, and at the time of his disappearance, he suffered from multiple health issues, including heart problems and high blood pressure. He also required several prescription medications, which he did not have with him when he went missing.
McKee was a highly intelligent man, having graduated with a degree in English literature from Indiana University. Described as a loner, he lived most of his life with family members and was not known to have close friends. His family believes that McKee met with foul play, potentially during a robbery attempt over a new laptop he had with him at the time.
Despite extensive searches and investigations, there have been no concrete leads, and McKee’s case remains unsolved.
