Myra Lewis, a 2-year-old from Camden, Mississippi, went missing on March 1, 2014, while playing outside her home. Between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m., her mother, Ericka Lewis, left to go to the grocery store and instructed Myra and her siblings to go inside with their father. When her parents later realized that each had assumed Myra was with the other, they began searching for her around 3:00 p.m. After an hour of searching, the family contacted the authorities, initiating a massive search.
Despite an intensive effort involving helicopters, K9 units, and volunteers, no trace of Myra was found. Her disappearance led to one of the longest-running Amber Alerts in Mississippi history. Myra was last seen wearing a turquoise sweater with a bear on it, off-white or khaki pants, and pink tennis shoes. The case remains unsolved, and her family has moved from the area since her disappearance. Authorities continue to investigate, though they have made no significant progress over the years.
