Latrice "Shay" Armstead, a 38-year-old mother of three, went missing on July 28, 2012, from Memphis, Tennessee. At the time, she was in the process of moving to St. Louis to escape an abusive relationship with her estranged husband, Tony Bledsoe, and had recently filed for divorce. Her jaw was wired shut due to a violent attack by Bledsoe, who had broken it in the months prior.
Armstead had left her children with family during this period and regularly checked in on them, but she stopped communicating after July 28.
On July 31, just a few days after she was last seen, Armstead's black Acura TL was found abandoned and burned near Little Simmons Road in Clarksdale, Mississippi, approximately an hour from Memphis. Despite extensive searches, there has been no trace of her since. Foul play is suspected, and Bledsoe was considered a person of interest in her case due to their history of domestic violence and the fact that he violated a protective order by being seen with her on the day she disappeared.
