Melissa Dawn Eagleshield, a 42-year-old Native American woman, was last seen in the early morning hours of October 5, 2014, at a friend's residence in rural Becker County, Minnesota, near County Road 126, just south of Island Lake. She reportedly left the house on foot between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m., leaving behind all of her belongings, including her shoes and purse. Melissa did not own a cell phone, and there has been no activity on her credit cards since her disappearance.
Search efforts, including those involving search dogs, tracked her scent through the brush near the residence, but the trail was lost near a beaver dam about a mile away. Despite extensive searches over the years, including the use of ATVs, helicopters, and K-9 units, no trace of Melissa has been found. Authorities believe it is possible that she accepted a ride from a passing motorist, as she had been known to do in the past.
Melissa was described as 5'1" tall, weighing 155 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. She had several distinctive scars and tattoos, including a unicorn on her right shoulder and a smoking gun on her left forearm.
