Joanne Marie Rulford, aged 24, was last seen on November 1, 1988, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On that day, she sent her children off to school from her home on DuPont Avenue and was never heard from again. Rulford, who had a colostomy bag due to prior surgery, was reported missing after she failed to make contact with anyone. At the time of her disappearance, she stood 4'11" tall, weighed between 135 to 145 pounds, and was known to wear wigs, earning her the nickname "Chaka Khan" among some.
