Peter Michael Shaw, a 21-year-old junior at the University of California, Berkeley, went missing on October 4, 1973. He was last seen leaving his apartment in Berkeley, driving his light blue 1953 Pontiac Chieftain with California license plate number 150ECO. Shaw’s roommates reported him missing two days later when he did not return. No trace of him or his vehicle has been found since.
Shaw, originally from Canada, had spent the previous year touring Europe and seemed to have a bright future. He left behind personal belongings, including his checkbook, passport, and extra clothes, suggesting he did not intend to be away for long. His sudden disappearance remains a mystery, with no indication of foul play, and there have been no confirmed sightings of him since that day.
The Berkeley Police Department continues to investigate his case, which remains unsolved.
