Harry Dennis Milligan, a 21-year-old Marine Corps reservist and student at Northeast Missouri State University, was last seen in the early hours of July 1, 1984, after a night out with friends in Albia, Iowa. Harry had gone out with friends to a bar, where he was reported to have been playing cards and doing well financially. Around 4:30 a.m., his friends dropped him off at his car, a maroon 1977 Pontiac Grand Am, on Main Street in Albia.
Harry was expected to drive back to his family’s home in Avery, Iowa, but he never arrived. Neither Harry nor his car has ever been located.
At the time of his disappearance, there were no immediate signs of foul play, but over the years, suspicions have grown. Some theories involve potential conflicts from that night, including rumors that Harry won a significant amount of money, possibly leading to an altercation. His brother, Mark Milligan, who has dedicated years to searching for answers, believes that some individuals in the local community may have knowledge of what happened. Despite various searches, including a renewed investigation and efforts by a private dive team to search local bodies of water, no significant breakthroughs have been made.
