Timothy John Barnes, a 24-year-old resident of Rancho Cucamonga, California, disappeared on July 5, 1988, during a solo hike in Yosemite National Park. He had planned to hike from Tenaya Lake, near Highway 120, to Polly Dome Lakes, a distance of about three miles, and was expected to return by 4:30 p.m. However, Barnes never returned, and his friends reported him missing the following morning.
Despite an extensive search by park rangers and rescue teams, no trace of Barnes was ever found. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with a red "no" symbol, gray sweatpants, worn white sneakers, and carrying a yellow day pack. Barnes, who had an orthopedic pin in his left ankle and smoked Marlboro cigarettes, was declared legally dead two years later, on July 19, 1990, though his body has never been recovered.Last Seen: Jul 5, 1988
