Timothy John Barnes, a 24-year-old resident of Rancho Cucamonga, California, disappeared on July 5, 1988, during a solo hike in Yosemite National Park. He had planned to hike from Tenaya Lake, near Highway 120, to Polly Dome Lakes, a distance of about three miles, and was expected to return by 4:30 p.m. However, Barnes never returned, and his friends reported him missing the following morning.
