Craig Lawrence Allen, 30, was last seen on August 14, 1993, in the Everglades National Park, near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. At the time of his disappearance, Allen was going through significant personal changes. After moving to South Florida in 1988, he had a stable career as a computer analyst in Boca Raton. However, in 1993, Allen underwent a dramatic transformation.
He converted from Judaism to fundamentalist Christianity, quit his job, and became homeless, living in campgrounds and on beaches. He also began reading extensively about the Bible and Nostradamus, and in conversations with friends, he expressed apocalyptic beliefs, even claiming to be the Antichrist.
Days before his disappearance, Allen sold his car and informed his mother that she "wouldn't like" what he was about to do and that she wouldn't hear from him again. This statement, along with his abrupt change in lifestyle, has led his family and authorities to suspect he may have either joined a cult or taken his own life. Despite a phone call made from Kendall, Florida, the day after he was last seen, Allen has not been heard from since, and there has been no activity on his financial accounts.
