William Wright North, aged 47, was last seen on April 22, 1999, in Duncan Mills, California. He had planned to travel to the beach to celebrate Earth Day and was last observed hitchhiking in the area. The day after his disappearance, on April 23, his gray backpack was discovered abandoned in the north parking lot of Goat Rock Beach in Jenner, California. Despite extensive search efforts, there was no sign of North at the scene.
