Charles Howard Kindred III, a 27-year-old man, was last seen on October 1, 2001, after dropping off his children at daycare in Lakeland, Florida. He later visited an auto parts store on State Route 60, where he was seen speaking with two men. Kindred never returned home, and his white Ford F-150 was found abandoned at a Lakeland Speedway convenience store shortly afterward. Kindred was a devoted father with sole custody of his three children, making his sudden disappearance highly unusual.
In the years following his disappearance, Robert Levesque, a known career criminal, became the primary suspect in Kindred's case. Levesque, one of the last individuals seen with Kindred, was accused of murdering him after Kindred allegedly threatened to expose Levesque's illegal "chop shop" operation. Levesque was eventually convicted of second-degree murder in 2005, although Kindred's body was never found, and Levesque continues to maintain his innocence.
