Thomas Joseph Morgan, an 85-year-old man from Lakeland, Florida, went missing on March 15, 2010. Suffering from Alzheimer's disease, he wandered away from his home in the Green Swamp area of North Lakeland, where he lived with his daughter and her boyfriend. His family had moved to this six-acre property in 2007, and his daughter had taken on the role of his caregiver after deciding against placing him in a nursing home.
On the day of his disappearance, Thomas left his home around 3:30 p.m. for one of his habitual walks, but he never returned. Witnesses reported seeing him about a mile from his residence near Rockridge Road at around 4:00 p.m. Despite an extensive search, including in the swampy areas near his home, no trace of him has ever been found. It is speculated that he may have accepted a ride from a passerby who was unaware of his mental state.
