Curtis Crosby, a 59-year-old man, was last seen on October 1, 2014, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Crosby, originally from New Orleans, had relocated to Utah after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and was known for his advocacy efforts on behalf of other evacuees and the homeless. On the day of his disappearance, police found him camping in an abandoned building in the Millcreek area, just five blocks from his apartment.
The following day, the building manager reported to the police that Crosby had left, leaving his belongings behind. He was never seen again.
Crosby had no known medical or mental health issues that would explain his abrupt departure, and his family, who lived out of state, became concerned when he failed to make contact during the holidays in December. Crosby’s family officially reported him missing at that time. Authorities believe he may have been living among the homeless population and possibly suffering from some disorientation or memory loss, as he was not carrying any identification.
