Ismael Gonzalez, a 50-year-old man, went missing on May 17, 2015, while attempting to cross into the United States from Reynosa, Mexico. He was part of a group of individuals who were led by a guide across the border. After entering Texas, the group was driven south of the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint to avoid detection. They were dropped off and began their journey on foot, intending to bypass the checkpoint.
During the walk, Ismael struggled to keep pace with the group, and when they stopped to rest, he reportedly fell asleep. When the group resumed their journey, Ismael was not feeling well and decided to stay behind, expressing his intent to turn himself in to the authorities. The last known location where Ismael was seen is believed to be near the King Ranch, approximately one mile east and half a mile south of the Falfurrias checkpoint. Since then, he has not been heard from, and efforts to locate him have been unsuccessful.
Authorities suspect that Ismael may have gotten lost in the harsh terrain of Brooks County, an area notorious for the dangers it poses to migrants attempting to cross on foot. Despite continued search efforts and hopes of finding him, Ismael remains missing.Last Seen: May 17, 2015
