Gregory Voight, a 32-year-old man from Mountain View, Hawaii, was last seen on August 9, 2015. A witness observed Voight launching a kayak into the water at Pahoehoe Beach Park, Kailua-Kona, around 6:30 a.m. He was reportedly carrying a large backpack. Voight’s vehicle was later found abandoned in the park's parking lot, which raised further concerns when it hadn’t been moved for days. The U.S. Coast Guard was notified two days after his disappearance, on August 11, and launched a search.
