Thomas Elroid Spiers, a 40-year-old man from St. Martin, Mississippi, went missing on August 25, 1994, under mysterious circumstances. The previous evening, he had dinner with his parents at their home on Goffville Road, located only a few blocks from his residence on Ruth Street. During the meal, Spiers mentioned that he had "seen something he shouldn’t have seen." He left his parents' house intending to return home, but he was never heard from again.
