Thomas Elroid Spiers, a 40-year-old man from St. Martin, Mississippi, went missing on August 25, 1994, under mysterious circumstances. The previous evening, he had dinner with his parents at their home on Goffville Road, located only a few blocks from his residence on Ruth Street. During the meal, Spiers mentioned that he had "seen something he shouldn’t have seen." He left his parents' house intending to return home, but he was never heard from again.
The following day, when Spiers didn’t show up for work harvesting oysters with his father, his family became concerned and went to check his home. They found his car parked outside with a rented videotape on the roof, and the car door left open. Inside the vehicle, his wallet and checkbook were left on the passenger seat, while his house had its lights on, the television playing, and all his personal belongings, including his keys and medication, left behind. Spiers, who suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder and was dependent on daily medication, left without warning—something his family found very uncharacteristic.
Despite numerous investigations and searches, no significant leads have emerged, and foul play is suspected in his disappearance. His case remains unsolved to this day.
