Sanders Thomas Welch, age 48, was last seen on April 1, 2013, in La Mesa, New Mexico. Shortly after his disappearance, on May 7, 2013, his truck was found abandoned near Castillo Road and N.M. 192, close to the river levee. Welch, described as a Caucasian male with brown hair and blue eyes, was 5'3" to 5'4" tall and weighed approximately 135 pounds at the time.
Although his family sometimes went extended periods without contact, they reported him missing on June 17, 2013, after realizing they had not heard from him for some time.
Authorities suspect that Welch's disappearance may not have been voluntary. Despite an extensive search, there have been no significant leads regarding his whereabouts. His case remains unsolved, and the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
