Benjamin Smith, a 24-year-old man from Tijeras, New Mexico, was last seen on July 4, 2017. He was living with the mother of a deceased friend at the time. That afternoon, after enjoying some food and drinks, he left the house around 4 p.m. to take a short walk to a nearby park. He had plans to attend a baseball game and watch fireworks later that evening, but he never returned.
Ben left without his cell phone or personal belongings, although he may have taken his wallet and EBT card.
His sudden disappearance raised alarms, especially because he left behind essential medication needed to manage a life-threatening medical condition. Ben was known to take his medications regularly and would typically carry them with him if necessary.
At the time of his disappearance, Ben was described as a free-spirited and pleasant individual who was not the type to vanish without a trace. His case remains unsolved, and authorities have expressed concerns that he may be in danger, particularly due to the absence of his medication. Despite extensive search efforts, including areas around David Canyon and the Cibola National Forest, no significant leads have emerged.
