Enrique Angel Medel, a 14-year-old from Albuquerque, New Mexico, was last seen on March 17, 2011. Known to his friends by the nicknames "Ricky" and "Curious," Enrique disappeared after being spotted near the intersection of Zuni and Indiana Streets SE. His uncle encountered him with friends and urged him to return home, but Enrique refused, saying he planned to stay the night at a nearby friend’s house.
That evening, Enrique stopped answering his phone, and he has not been seen or heard from since.
Enrique had a troubled history before his disappearance, including being expelled from middle school for bringing a gun to campus. His mother, a single parent working at a nightclub, struggled to supervise him due to her work hours. She had enrolled him in a boxing program in an attempt to steer him away from negative influences and had been considering sending him to live with relatives in Missouri. However, Enrique vanished before these plans could be carried out.
Despite being classified as an endangered runaway by authorities, his mother does not believe Enrique would have run away voluntarily. One of his friends, an 18-year-old, gave conflicting statements about the case and was found to be in possession of Enrique’s backpack and a rosary, but no significant leads have emerged from this. Enrique had distinctive tattoos, including "Medel" on his abdomen, "Game Over" on his knuckles, and other markings on his shoulders and lip.
